WSL Services
Barton Road Girls
An after school program held once per month at Barton Road to provide interesting, fun and community building activities for girls. Program is developed by Barton Road Girls Committee Chairs and supervised by Service League members at each meeting date. Healthy snacks are also provided by Service League members for the program.
Barton Road Boys
An after school program held once per month at Barton Road interesting, fun and community building activities for school aged boys. Program is developed by Barton Road Boys Committee Chairs and supervised by Service League members at each meeting date. Healthy snacks are also provided by Service League members for the program.
Charles River Industries
Charles River ARC is a non-profit social service agency providing advocacy and services to people with disabilities. Service League members assist with a variety of vocational work programs two times per week on location.
Charles River Art
The Art program at Charles River ARC offers our members time to help with creative arts activities developed for people with disabilities. This program is generally offered once per week.
Charles River Music
The music program is the newest addition to the services we provide to Charles River ARC. It is a once per week schedule where our members assist with music sessions and musical activities organized for people with disabilities at Charles River ARC.
Fundraiser
The Wellesley Service League sponsors one fundraising event each year to benefit the Wellesley Friendly Aid Camp Fund. Every summer dozens of children who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attended day camp are awarded this experience thanks to the Wellesley Service League as primary sponsor, along with other civic organizations and donors. Nearly fifty years old, The Camp Program is managed by Wellesley Friendly Aid. Service League members, with the direction of the our Fundraiser Committee Chairs organize, plan, and coordinate the annual event.
Men's Group Program
Our members participate in weekly meetings for senior men to enjoy informational programs, excursions and other activities.
Library Services
Wellesley Service League members volunteer during the week to shelve library books as well as to conduct shelf reading.
Newton Wellesley Hospital Friendly Hospital Tours
This long standing tradition establishes a schedule of visits and formal tours of the hospital for all Wellesley elementary school kindergarten classes. Wellesley Service League Committee Chairs oversee the program, integrating age appropriate information about the hospital and some of the interesting departments into the tours. Tours are conducted by Committee Chairs and Service League members. Parents and teachers of the visiting class also attend.
Newton Wellesley Hospital Thrift Shop
Another long standing service to the Hospital, Wellesley Service League members assist Thrift Shop staff with sorting, tagging, and selling merchandise in the Shop to raise funds for the Women's Auxiliary of the Hospital.
American Red Cross
When blood drives are needed, Wellesley Service League members volunteer at the site of the drive to assist in registering donors and providing support to the organization of the effort the day of the drive.
Food Pantry
Service League members support the Food Pantry by participating in weekly food pickups at local grocers, sorting and stocking food at the Food Pantry and making deliveries to recipient families.
School Drives
To further support the Food Pantry food collection process, Wellesley Service League members coordinate with Wellesley elementary schools to conduct organized food drives to help ensure that the Food Pantry maintains adequate inventory of all varieties of food.
Symphony
Wellesley Service League members participate as guest ushers during the Wellesley Symphony concert season.
Flu Clinics
During the flu clinic season, members are trained to man the phone banks, as well as to register recipients on the days that flu clinics take place in Wellesley.
Toy Shop
Our Toy Shop is a three month long endeavor which includes toy collection, toy cleaning and packaging for distribution, and a two day toy 'sale' for families supported by Wellesley Friendly Aid.
Friendship Circle Clerical
Part of the Friendship Circle program for senior woman, the Clerical function is responsible for scheduling ladies attendance at Friendship Circle Program meetings, and arranging and confirming transportation provided by our members to and from the events for the ladies.
Friendship Circle Program
Our members participate in weekly social meetings for senior woman to enjoy companionship, programs, excursions and other enjoyable activities.
House
The House Committee oversees care and maintenance of the "Barn", the property which is the Wellesley Service League's base of operation. The Committee also coordinates the logistics for the League's general monthly and Board meetings, and administers sign up for refreshments for the general meetings.
WSL Service Hours
Provisional and Active members are required to complete a minimum of 65 hours of service during the Service League year, September through June. A maximum of 10 home hours may be earned. Summer hours can sometimes be accumulated outside of the 65 hour requirement.

Special note should be made for the following situations:
Member service not needed - should a member arrive at the service location and not be needed, she shall be credited with one hour of work.
Service cancelled - if commitments are cancelled with 24 hour notice, no credit will be given. If commitment is cancelled with less than 24 hour notice, one half credit will be given.
No School days - all services are cancelled when Wellesley Public Schools are cancelled. One half credit is given in that case.
Food Services - no credit is offered for food provided to Service League members. Credit is given for event food service provided to non Service League members.
